WHAT:
City of Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Tampa civic leaders will tour Brightline in Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
Brightline is the only privately-funded, express, inter-city passenger rail service in the United States. Mayor Buckhorn will also meet with Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez, Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Esteban Bovo, City of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and City of Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis, along with Brightline executives.
As one of the nation's fastest growing regions, Tampa is a natural extension for Brightline. Brightline is currently engaged in the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) RFP process to allow for private investment in a high-speed rail connection from Orlando to Tampa.
