MIAMI, Fla. – November 20, 2018 – In preparation for Thanksgiving, Brightline partnered with the City of Miami to provide 500 turkeys to Overtown residents during the annual turkey giveaway hosted by the Overtown Neighborhood Enhancement Team (N.E.T.) Office and Miami City Commission Chairman Keon Hardemon.
“We're excited to partner with the City of Miami and the N.E.T. office on this important event for the fourth year,” said Brightline President Patrick Goddard. “Giving back to the community is important to Brightline and our teammates. Throughout the year we are focused on participating in events that build brighter neighborhoods.”
Brightline was proud to work in conjunction with Miami City Commission Chairman Keon Hardemon, Overtown N.E.T. Office, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency, Miami Parking Authority, Richard Hallman Foundation and the Marlon Eason Foundation.
More than 30 Brightline employees handed out the turkeys and greeted families along with other community volunteers. Residents of all ages were delighted to receive the Thanksgiving meal.
“We are happy to have the support of Brightline in alleviating the financial burden on families during the holiday season,” said Chairman Hardemon.
Giving back to the community is an important part of Brightline's mission. Brightline has been an active part of the Overtown community, having participated in the annual turkey giveaway for four years. The company also participates in the annual backpack giving each summer. Last year, Brightline moved to its new headquarters at 3 MiamiCentral in historic Overtown at 161 Northwest Sixth Street, adjacent to MiamiCentral, the downtown intermodal transportation hub. 3 MiamiCentral has leased almost all of the 90,000 square feet of Class A office space, and Einstein Bros Bagels opened earlier this year.
