Construction on Rail Line and Train Station to Create Nearly 1,000 Jobs in County
Coral Gables, FL (March 18, 2015) – With work on the railroad just weeks away from starting between Miami and West Palm Beach, All Aboard Florida (AAF) has opened an office in downtown West Palm Beach to oversee the engineering and construction of the railway. HNTB, program manager for the passenger-rail company's Miami-to-Orlando transportation service, is lead occupant of the 4,000-square-foot office located at 105 South Narcissus Avenue.
As program manager, HNTB is responsible for the project's rail infrastructure for the entire length of the rail corridor, which includes management of all work performed at grade crossings, on tracks and on train signalization. The engineering-and-planning firm will have direct oversight over the contractors selected to make the improvements on the railway.
“Being anchored in the heart of West Palm Beach positions All Aboard Florida perfectly to monitor its initial construction towards Miami while setting it up to launch north to Orlando later this year,” said Adrian B. Share, executive vice president of Rail Infrastructure at All Aboard Florida. “We also welcome the opportunity to immerse ourselves more fully in the communities we serve.”
Construction of the rail line and the new train station in West Palm Beach will create nearly 1,000 jobs in the county. Construction activities related to the station will be housed elsewhere.
“HNTB is focused on implementing the rail infrastructure program at the highest standards and working with all stakeholders along the corridor, “said Brad Flom, program manager at HNTB. “The West Palm Beach office is an ideal hub for our work with All Aboard Florida.”
