All Aboard Florida Wins Fast Company 2015 Innovation By Design Award

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – September 15, 2015 – All Aboard Florida announced today that it has been selected as one of 13 international winners of Fast Company's fourth annual “Innovation By Design Awards.” The prestigious international competition honors companies for the most innovative and disruptive design solutions to today's business. All Aboard Florida was selected for design in the City Solutions category.

According to Fast Company, the company's private-sector solution to a public-service need is representative of a new wave of civic innovation. All Aboard Florida is the only privately owned and operated express passenger-rail system in the country today.

“All Aboard Florida's high-speed intercity rail service will transform the way visitors and residents travel throughout the state and create vibrant new mobility-centric living, work and entertainment spaces around Florida,” said All Aboard Florida President Mike Reininger.

Inaugurating service in 2017, All Aboard Florida will connect Miami and Orlando, with intermediate stops in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, in under three hours. Leading architectural and urban-planning firm globally, Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM), designed the stations, each of which will double as a gateway to its respective city and a destination in itself featuring shops, restaurants and hospitality venues. The three stations also will anchor residential and office space that connects to local transportation services.

Judges in Fast Company's annual competition selected All Aboard Florida from 1,500 international submissions – the largest number of entries in history. Other 2015 winners include Nike, Slack, Facebook, IBM and Airbnb. This year's honorees will be showcased in the October issue of Fast Company's print magazine.
