Country's Only Privately Funded Passenger Rail System is Buy America Compliant; Honors its Manufacturing Partners on National Manufacturing Day, October 2

Coral Gables, FL (October 2, 2015) – Today, All Aboard Florida is honoring its many U.S. manufacturing partners in Florida and across the nation on National Manufacturing Day. All Aboard Florida is investing in U.S. manufacturing with its commitment to be Buy America compliant to build the nation's only privately funded intercity passenger rail system.

“Investing in Florida and the nation's workforce is critical to the growth of our economy. It's one of the reasons we chose to participate in the Buy America program,” said Michael Reininger, President of All Aboard Florida. “A majority of the states in the country will manufacture a part of our project, and we're proud of that.”

Examples of All Aboard Florida's commitment to U.S. manufacturing include:

• Siemens, the manufacturer of All Aboard Florida's coaches and locomotives, has developed a robust and diverse base of U.S. rail suppliers and will utilize components from a robust supply chain with parts from its plants in Norwood, Oh. and Alpharetta Ga., and more than 40 suppliers in more than 20 states with additional suppliers still being added. Production is currently underway in its solar-powered Sacramento, CA, plant.

• Cummins Inc. announced today that the first production 95-liter, 16-cylinder QSK95 engine built to a rail specification has been shipped. The engine, rated at 4400 hp (3281 kW) will be delivered to Siemens manufacturing facility in Sacramento, CA where it will be installed into a Charger locomotive. The Charger locomotives will include powering the trainsets for All Aboard Florida.

• GE Transportation is providing a signaling system that includes upgrades to grade crossings in the corridor, effective communications with approaching trains, a system for triggering gate openings and closings, and regulation of train-crossing times.  Teams at GE Transportation's Melbourne and Jacksonville, Fla., facilities will take the lead on signal design and engineering.  A second GE plant in Warrensburg, Mo., will manufacture the equipment.

• Rocla Concrete Tie, Inc., supplier of pre-stressed concrete ties, entered into a long-term supply agreement with All Aboard Florida and Florida East Coast Railway (FEC), which will require the construction of a new facility in Fort Pierce, Florida. The new plant will supply ties to FEC, the All Aboard Florida project, as well as other transit agencies and railroads throughout the Southeast United States.
